Epiphany of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church Dedicates New Building

Epiphany of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church dedicates its new church in Annandale, Virginia. The church’s excitement was palpable, “After 20 years of planning, fund‐raising, and prayer, the parishioners… finally worship in their new church—just in time for Thanksgiving” according to a news release published on their website. “The entire building is very intricate, like a watch,” said Father John Basarab, Pastor of Epiphany. “The goal,” Father Basarab said, “was to reflect the history of wooden churches in the original territory, but more importantly, to create a church that
felt like home.”

Kerns Group’s design is organized around three squares of varying size and volume organize the plan and massing, reflecting the architectural spirit of wooden churches built in Poland the 17th and 18th centuries. The church of St. Nicholas, built in 1759 in the Boyko style of architecture is the specific inspiration for Epiphany of Our Lord.
