Shane Dunlevy receives AIA Northern Virginia Student Scholarship Award

The Northern Virginia AIA selected Shane Dunlevy as the First Place winner in its 2011 AIA Student Scholarship competition.

Before graduating from Virginia Tech’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Consortium in Old Town, Shane received the award for his Master’s Thesis. The competition jury recognized his Philadelphia Catholic Cemetery as “… a complete project, demonstrating the student’s ability to develop a strong piece of architecture while presenting a compelling image of the project in a tight space.”

The application rules allow entry submissions on one postcard-sized piece of paper (4.25” x 6” maximum) that shows both the candidate’s design work and why they deserve the award. Other entrants included students enrolled in professional Architecture degree programs at all three accredited architecture programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
