Washington Jesuit Academy Starts Design for New School Chapel

The Washington Jesuit Academy, just north of Catholic University in Washington, DC, has just completed design for a new school chapel and fifth grade classroom.  As a growing academy, it needs new space, but just as importantly, spaces that can help shape the students’ lives.

Previously used for job-training and integrated mainstreaming for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their current facilities have always required adaptive reuse for the school’s programs to succeed.  By moving the chapel to a central place in the facility, Kerns Group’s design becomes a center-point that expresses the school’s mission and uniquely relates the building to its students, teachers and parents.
